Parabolic was the final project I made for my Site-Specific Installation class with Colin Lyons. The class gave us full freedom to make whatever we chose as long as it responded to the space it is in. This location was the now-closed Spool MFG art space in Johnson City, NY. This was the largest room available to the class, and the challenge to fill the room adequately with an artwork, while daunting to my classmates, was thrilling to me. I drew inspiration from a sketch I would repeatedly draw when I was younger. After much research, I came across a small hyperboloid string sculpture made by an MIT student, which I decided to base my sculpture on.
