Adobe Photoshop, Sketchbook drawings, iPhone, 320 mesh screen, screenprint inks.
9.5 in. x 15 in.
One of my favorite projects I worked on while in school. This was made in Printmaking II with Colin Lyons. The assignment is to make a multi-color screenprint. After talking with Colin, we decided to pull from one of my favorite pastimes, drawing. I went through my sketchbook, taking photos of my favorite doodles. I would then bring them into Photoshop, rearrange them, add a threshold adjustment, and individually colorize each drawing until I had a complete collage. I stuck to a limited color palette to make the screenprinting process simple. I then divided each layer by color and printed each color layer as positives on frosted mylar for screen exposure and printing. I only used one screen and printed 8 copies.
