My name is Andrew! I’m a graphic designer based in New York.
I love working with both physical and digital mediums and fusing them
together with a touch of my own style.
AIGAJanuary 2025 - May 2025
As a founding member, I played a key role in establishing the AIGA student group at Binghamton University. I took on a multitude of responsibilities to build momentum for the group, including event coordination and production of promotional material. My overarching goal was to foster a stronger, more connected graphic design community on campus.
Love Design? AIGA PostersMarch 5th, 2025
Adobe Illustrator, Printed Posters 11 in X 17 in Love Design?
My first task with AIGA was to create promotional posters for the student group. The objective was to target design majors, promising much needed resources and a tight-knit community, something design majors unanimously agreed was needed in the department. Utilizing a cutting mat as my grid structure, I focused my design around hierarchy and typographic alignment to attract design-oriented minds. These posters also rely on bright colors to stick out amongst other posters in the halls. The “Love Design?” tagline is simple and yet specific and effective at capturing the attention of designers, similar to the popular tagline, “Got Milk?”

One of the most successful events organized by the AIGA student group was the Student Collective Zine, an idea I originally made. My goal was to create an event where students can connect with each other while working, and leave with a physical collection of student works, all without any cost to the organization.
For the first edition, I took on multiple roles: I designed the front and back covers, wrote the event description for the inside page, created the print and Instagram promotional posters, and contributed my own page, “How to Survive Tying Your Shoes.” I wanted my page to feel punk and loud while also being ironic and silly. I also handled the layout for the student work in the zine in InDesign, preparing the final file for printing and saddle stitching.
For the second edition, themed Nostalgia, I stepped back from the cover and poster design, but still contributed my own page, “Pokemon at the Beach,” reflecting my childhood love of playing Pokemon and going to the beach.
ArspectMay 2025 - July 2025 In the summer between my junior and senior year at Binghamton University, I took up an internship abroad with Arspect, an art rental company in Barcelona. During my two months there, I had many roles, including gallery curation and direction, logo design/animation, template design, and social media management/content creation (Instagram and TikTok). Additionally, I created a mockup branding announcement video, as the company was in the transitional process of a rebrand. All work done kept this rebrand in mind in order to make this transition seamless.

Student Design AgencyAugust 2024 - May 2025 The SDA is a prestigious student-ran design firm at Binghamton that makes free design work for Binghamton Student Association chartered organizations. I joined at the beginning of my senior year as the Marketing Director. My responsibilities mostly were centered around finding organizations which we were interested in working with or giving critiques for intern work. I also had some design roles myself like social media work and poster design. For all social media work, I had to closely follow branding guidelines, which focus on the use of the three main colors, being blue, orange, and red, while using the SDA’s two fonts, Bakemono Variable and Jetlab Variable.

BFA ExhibitionApril 10th, 2025 - April 28th, 2025 To cap off senior year, all BFA students take part in a group exhibition at the Elsie B. Rosefsky Gallery in Binghamton’s Fine Arts Building. My goal was to make works that all engage in a dialogue with each other, forming an experience that exists in its own world
for viewers to step into.
What makes you happy?April 10th, 2025
40x Screenprinted T-Shirts (Black FN Ink)
Sizes S, M, L, XL
I decided to make a pseudo-brand called “What makes you happy?”, and screenprinted 40 T-shirts to give away for free at the opening. I made four different designs in my sketchbook, which were then edited in Photoshop and printed as screenprinting positives. The concept surrounding this project aims to discuss how many large companies dictate the identities of their customers with their products. Customers sacrifice some amount of their identity to fit in with others who are also consuming the product from a fear of missing out, rather than buying products that actually speak to them. Many of those who got a shirt on the day of the opening did not get the design they wanted or a properly sized shirt, yet still got whatever they could.
Even ExchangeApril 10th, 2025
Birch 1/4 in. plywood, masonite, drawer slides, compression springs, lock mechanism
40 UV Printed Cards (Mohawk Superfine Eggshell White 24 PT) To be paired with “What makes you happy?”, I wanted to print out cards that customers must fill out in order to receive a shirt for a more interactive exchange. One must first write down what makes them happy and then circle what design they would like. I then built a locking drawer meant to imitate a cash register which would store the cards. The idea for “Even Exchange” was to imitate the exchange of currency for products and in this case, happiness. While the buttons have no function, the drawer locks with a key and is spring-loaded, so it slides out on its own after being unlocked. “Even Exchange” adds further irony to WMYH, as the information on the card may have nothing to do with the products the company has to offer you.
WMYH PromotionMarch 31st, 2025
Adobe Photoshop, InDesign
8.5 in. x 11 in.
I frequently posted promotional material for my pseudo-brand leading up to the opening on my Instagram, and printed over 50 promotional flyers which I put up all over the Fine Arts Building. Each week I would put up 8 flyers, gradually filling the halls with WMYH. My intention with this rollout was to ensure that people were excited about my project and the exhibition in general early on. On the day opening, there was a line going out the door for my shirts, which sold out in 20 minutes.
Home is Wherever Your Stuff isApril 9th, 2025
Oil on canvas, Maple Lumber, Masonite Board
24 in. x 42 in.
The final piece that I submitted to the BFA Exhibition. This is a painting of myself when I was eight in the room I grew up in. It perfectly tied into my “What makes you happy” concept. The room is full of products: Legos, Minecraft posters, Pokémon on the TV, books, Yankees merchandise, etc. The painting shows that I am not exempt from consumerist tendencies as well. The key distinction is the objects themselves aren’t what brings me happiness, but instead the memories I have that are attached to them.
In addition to the painting, I constructed a custom frame with help from Austin, the woodshop technician. The stain and finish were specifically chosen to mimic the frame of the bed in the painting.
Artist Talk Video April 3rd, 2025
Adobe Photoshop, After Effects
1920 px. x 1080 px.
Due to the high volume of students involved in the exhibit, BFA students were tasked with making a short artist talk video that walks attendees through the meanings of their pieces while telling some information about the artist. These were accessible via QR code placed next to student work. Each student created their video to the style of their preference.
BA Exhibition DesignApril 22nd, 2025
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
Following the BFA Exhibition, BA Seniors get their own exhibition in the Elsie B. Rosefsky Gallery. Being one of the interns for the gallery space, I was tasked with designing the 12 in. x 18 in. posters to be put up around campus, as well as the A0 sized photo-text and the black vinyl text which is placed at the gallery’s entrance. My design pulls from the idea of building blocks, resembling the creative minds of the students, as well as the way in which their degree has provided them with the fundamentals to pursue successful careers in the arts. I also wanted the design to stick out on a bulletin board full of other posters, hence the solid bright background. Orange was chosen to indicate the fast-approaching summer as the semester comes to an end.
PrintshopJanuary 2025 - May 2025 The Printshop is a space that was created at the end of 2024 by Alexandros Skouras. The objective for the Printshop was to be a space held soley for Graphic Design majors to do work and print out assignments, free of charge. I worked as an intern, assisting students in printing, cutting, binding, and various design needs. I worked with and maintained laser printers, inkjet printers, a Risograph, a saddle-stitcher, a spiral binder, and a paper cutter. I also created signage (11 in. x 17 in.) with important information for different stations in the room and decorated the walls myself with student works, work from the AIGA student group, and from the Student Design Agency. Additionally, before the Printshop was set up, Alexandros assigned me with creating a detailed floor plan of the space to determine how everything would fit inside it.
SketchBook AirDecember 24th, 2024
HTML, CSS, and javascript using Visual Studio Code
Adobe Photoshop, Sketchbook drawings, iPhone
The objective with SketchBook Air was initially to create a website based on a singular work. However, I came to realize that a fuller feeling website could be more centered around my sketchbook and how multiple projects arose from it. The website homepage is a side-scroll of scanned sketches. The homepage is designed to feel like you are flipping through the pages of my sketchbook, welcoming you with a video of me flipping through the pages. When a sketch is clicked, you are navigated to the corresponding page which displays the final work as well as a collection of related sketches. There are also two separate pages which showcase all final works included in the website and all sketches corresponding to final works respectively. This was all coded using HTML, CSS, and some javascript within Visual Studio Code. You can download the files to view this site here, as I did not buy a domain for it.

Shoreline Environmental was a web assignment made in collaboration with Simon Liebskind (@5tig.design). The assignment was to make a sustainable and environmentally friendly brand and build a website around it. We chose to take heavy inspiration from Parley, a company that recycles plastic polluting the ocean into string. The string is then used to make many products such as shoes and bags. You can download the files to view this site here, as we did not buy a domain for it.

werd.na fontApril 24th, 2025
Adobe Illustrator, Font Forge
Hello! My name is Andrew Nieves and I made this font with my handwriting. You can download it for yourself for FREE and use it for any projects you may be working on! :D
(see below)
To cap off my senior year, I wanted to make something outside of class that was exclusive to me, rather than making something from an assignment all my classmates are also doing. I wanted this to be something I can use for my design work depending on the project. I ultimately decided on making a font entirely from my own handwriting, making this project something unique and mine alone. After writing every character out on paper and processing them through Adobe Illustrator into .svg files, I used a program called FontForge to edit each character and export everything into .ttf and .woff files. I wanted to make werd.na free for anyone to download, and you can download the .ttf file here and the .woff file here.
